Please clear your diary as much as possible for those days. You will need to be home to prepare your meals fresh.

Why Cleanse Seasonally?
Ayurveda teaches that we are nature, not separate from it.
As the seasons shift, so do we.
When we move from one season to another, the body naturally wants to let go of what it no longer needs. Build a little, cleanse a little - that is the natural flow to maintain balance over the year.
Summer is a time of building - we gorge on the fruits of the season - indulgence, late nights, high social energy. In order to reset ready for Winter building, we must cleanse and restore balance to the system.
Without preparing or cleansing, we often feel:

Lowered immunity/tendency to fall ill
A seasonal cleanse creates space to release this excess and realign. Ayurveda calls this practice Saucha – purification and clarity – a principle that applies not only to the body, but also to the mind, emotions, and environment.

What This Cleanse Looks Like
This isn’t about deprivation — it’s about nourishment, ritual, and gentle purification.
Day 1–3: Preparation

Transition to a simple plant-based diet (with ghee if desired).

Remove stimulants & heavy foods (processed, fried, sugar, caffeine, alcohol).

Begin setting your space and intentions for the cleanse.
Day 3–6: Active Cleanse (Kitchari Reset)

Follow a mono-diet of kitchari – a warm, soothing dish of split mung dal, basmati rice, ghee, and spices.

Why mono-diet? Ayurveda sees digestion as the cornerstone of health. By simplifying input, your system can rest, repair, and cleanse deeply.

Take gentle herbs to support detoxification and tone the digestive tract.
Day 7+: Reintroduction

Gradually reintroduce foods.

Notice which foods bring vitality, and which trigger discomfort or symptoms.

I’m Jo, a Naturopathic Nutritionist and Ayurvedic Practitioner.
I love holding space for cleanses because they offer such a powerful reset for body, mind, and emotions. As someone with a Vata constitution, I really feel the intensity of summer and welcome the grounding energy of autumn. This cleanse is my way of slowing down, strengthening immunity, and creating space — not just through food, but also with simple practices like a digital detox that give us room to breathe, reflect, and realign.
